Design Story

The eye enters at the crowned shield near the lower edge, then climbs the causeway into the castle gate and up through the towers to the pale sky. That vertical spine is the whole structure of the piece. Everything else answers it in pairs: two visored helms above, two lion medallions below, fleur-de-lis anchoring each corner. The palette stays restrained — aged parchment and stone grey at the center, oxblood and near-black at the perimeter — so the architecture reads as light held inside darkness. The border is not decoration alone; it functions as a frame, closing the scene and keeping the motif from drifting toward the edge.

Room & Styling

On a rug, the composition works because it is centered and symmetrical. Placed openly between seating, the castle stays legible from standing height while the ornamental band defines the boundary of the arrangement.
