Design Story
The composition is built like a medallion. A block letter O sits at the centre, framed by a laurel wreath and a beaded halo, with arched OHIO STATE lettering above and a BUCKEYES banner below. EST. 1870 anchors the base, followed by a football motif set into a fluted lower panel. Everything is mirrored on a vertical axis, so the eye lands centre-mass and stays there. The palette stays disciplined: saturated scarlet as the field, cool silver-grey for the ornament, black used sparingly for depth. That tonal contrast is what gives the crest its engraved, trophy-case appearance.
Use & Experience
On a tall tumbler silhouette, the crest occupies the front-facing focal panel while the fluted base detailing carries the wraparound rhythm around the curve.
